The
U.S. frontier. Winter. 1892. An iron and steam beast is sighted rumbling
through the forest on steel tracks.
Here comes The Great Northern Railroad, built to open up a fast transcontinental
route for people and industry. What can this mean for the British farmers and
Swedish lumberjacks of the region? How would the railroad affect their lives,

“The
Great Northern Railroad” is an interdisciplinary tool for
integrating the arts with social studies and reading comprehension
standards at the intermediate elementary to middle school levels.
Via an integrated classroom and stage event, students benefit from
a broader learning experience, while teachers benefit from a class
play that doubles as a standards-based teaching platform. |
