"The Accompany shows let our students bond in a special way every year because our kids get to work on the show together, as a team."
-Sharon Johnson, 3rd Grade Teacher, Tuttle Elementary, Minneapolis MN

The following testimonials are from a wide variety of educators who have used Accompany shows to great success. See how Accompany's stage-learning is making an impact in schools across the country.

Erica James, 3rd Grade Teacher
Mill Creek Towne Elementary, Rockville MD
Measured for Life, This Is Only a Test

"Every child had a chance to perform and shine. It was the most memorable experience the children had. It gave our students the opportunity to work hard and see the results. How often can you do something like this in school, when you work hard and see this wonderful product on stage?

The show integrated with our curriculum because we study plants, bees and seeds in science. It covered a lot of our vocabulary, was age appropriate, and was perfect for our children. Really, it's the kind of activity they should be doing. It also achieved our language arts objective.

We are really looking forward to doing another one this year. In fact, next year's class already came into our classroom asking about what show they are going to do. Overall, it was cheap; it wasn't a ton of money for all the benefits we got out of it."

Sharon Johnson, 3rd Grade Teacher
Tuttle Elementary, Minneapolis MN
Save the Plants!, The Great Northern Railroad

"Tuttle Elementary is an inner-city school. I think the important thing for teachers out there to know is that even in the toughest classrooms all kids respond to getting a part in the class play.

For the past two years, I have used different Accompany shows because the kids love the drama and the storytelling as an alternative way to learn about their favorite subjects. We have kids who don't speak or read well (and the behavioral kids) and the scripts give these students a chance to build upon and improve their core skills. I also have gifted and creative students with their own needs. The Accompany shows let our students bond in a special way every year because our kids get to work on the show together, as a team."

The People's Rights, Rise to the Revolution

"You have done a great job in meeting my goals for arts integration. That is, integration that honors the content and skills of disciplines being integrated, that does not compromise the integrity of any discipline being integrated...that creates opportunities for students to develop higher order thinking skills to make meaning out of integrated learning.

Thanks for your great work with Fairfax County Public Schools."

Beverly Westergren, Music Specialist
Chesterbrook Elementary, McLean VA
Weather Is Alive!

"As a Music Teacher, I come across a lot of material trying to integrate the daily curriculum with the performing arts. I have found much of it to be substandard in quality. Weather is Alive! has a witty, substantive script and catchy tunes that are easy to learn. The time my Fourth Graders worked on Weather is Alive! was well spent. Accompany Publishing also includes helpful resource materials, making it easier to launch a production."

Mia Moen, Gifted & Talented 4/5 Multiage
Columbia Elementary, Annandale VA
1607: Disappearance at Jamestown

"Performing the show with my class was the best decision I have ever made as a GT teacher. My fourth graders consistently made references and connections to the play during their Colonial unit of study. One of the habits of mind we study is 'Creating, Imagining, Innovating.' This play is the perfect opportunity for the students to enhance this habit.

They loved learning the songs and their lines, and had better ideas than I did for the direction of the show. It was an experience we will never forget. It is an excellent way to build community in a classroom, especially multiage classrooms, such as mine."

Sarah K., 5th Grade student

Churchill Road Elementary
Fire of Vesuvius

"Your play, Fire Of Vesuvius, was the best play that I've ever done. I had always thought that historical plays had to be boring. Now I know that they can be fun, exciting and fast moving. I felt like I was in the Roman city of Pompeii during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. You did a great job writing the play so it was like a trip back in time."

Anita Silver, Performing Arts Coordinator
Performing Arts Magnet at Kenwood School
Rise to the Revolution

"Students who are particularly kinesthetic learners are actively engaged in being history, being science, and being language arts through participating, rather than simply reading/listening. Learning has become more fun, more involved for all abilities, more appealing for parental involvement, more arts skill-building and more community enriching. We look forward to using more Accompany materials!"

Steve Barberio, President
American Alliance for Theatre & Education

"In an era of less resources and less time, it's great to know that there's a way for teachers to make the arts a more attractive and affordable piece of general classroom and curriculum planning. Accompany has published a series of high-quality shows, in the form of Kits, that are integrated with classroom curriculum. Raising the bar on the quality of production and enhancing creative participation allow students to become more involved in the learning process and achieve a higher threshold of actual learning.

It's no secret that the arts are a powerful tool for hitting multiple learning styles. Now, musical theatre can be heralded as the ultimate interdisciplinary arts integration event for elementary and middle school teachers."

Vanessa Karlsson, 5th Grade teacher
Discovery Elementary, Sammamish, WA
1607: Disappearance at Jamestown, Rise to the Revolution

"Instead of reading and listening to lessons about history, the kids get to participate in classroom plays which integrate social studies, science, reading, writing and singing. This innovative approach will nurture the multiple learning styles of students, especially kinesthetic learners, involving all ability levels. EVERYONE in the class gets to perform.

There are no auditions. By becoming more involved in the learning process, it is expected that everyone involved will join in a community enriching, arts skill-building and memorable experience. This great way to allow integrated learning will also boost confidence in public presentation and performance."

This Is Only a Test

"We can't wait for the school to do another Accompany show. Both of my 4th Graders were involved in last year's production. It was amazing to see the transformation that occurred as a result. My son gained self-confidence and emerged from his shell. It changed his life.

Plus, we as parents were excited to get involved in a show that tied into classroom learning. We ended up helping with the costumes and props. From a supporter of the arts in school learning: bravo Accompany!"

Kate Humphrey, 4th Grade Teacher
Gatewood Elementary, Hopkins MN
The Great Northern Railroad

"The fourth graders at Gatewood Elementary, all 93 of them, had a fantastic time performing The Great Northern Railroad. The musical had so much depth that both child and adult audiences enjoyed the humor. Most importantly, my students have an emotional connection to events and people in history. They often refer to the musical during social studies.

The team building, creative expression and connections to our current curriculum made The Great Northern Railroad a success on many levels. We can't stop singing Life on the River. Great stuff!"
